Curriculum Journey

Year 7/Year 8

Students study core religions such as Christianity, Islam and Buddhism, whilst also looking at a variety of thematic topics such as Festivals, Life after Death, Animal Rights and Charity. Through this student should gain an understanding of how religious beliefs impact all aspects of life.

We build on any knowledge students have gained at primary school and aim to develop their curiosity for other cultures and traditions, to think about their own worldviews and the views of other people.

We look at provoking challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human.

Students will learn to articulate clearly their personal beliefs, ideas, values and experiences while respecting the right of others to differ.

Year 9

In year 9, students will look at a range of thematic topics such as, Religion, War and Peace, Crime and Punishment, Religion and Suffering. Throughout these topics, students will continue to explore their own worldviews whilst also learning about the beliefs and traditions of a variety of different cultures.
