The Boulevard Academy -Ofsted Inspection June 2022

On the 21st and 22nd June, the Boulevard Academy was inspected by Ofsted who noted significant improvements since our previous inspection. Most notably, the school achieved a ‘Good’ judgement for pupil development: the inspectorate recognised that our students ‘…develop an understanding of how to play an active role in society.’

School leaders were praised for accurately recognising the school’s areas for development and agreed with their plans to improve. This has been assisted by the completion of the school’s £6 million extension which enables the academy to offer new courses, provide state of the art facilities and study in an environment of which our students take pride in. Our student numbers continue to grow year on year – this is due to the academy’s strong reputation within the local community.

Even though the inspection occurred prior to a full return to a pre-pandemic curriculum, the changes already implemented enabled the academy to achieve its best ever GCSE results last summer – the most notable achievement being a 27% increase of students passing Maths and English compared to the 2019.

Janice Mitchell, Principal and CEO of the academy stated ‘Our year-on-year increase in results evidences our journey over the last four years through the most turbulent of times. We would like to thank all parents, students and staff for all they have contributed to the Boulevard Academy community – the improvements outlined in our Ofsted report demonstrate our collective achievements.’

Even though the academy is the youngest in the area opening in 2013, the continual developments have ensured that it very much a school of choice for many across Hull. All at the Boulevard are proud (and unsurprised) that this has been recognised by external bodies such as Ofsted.

The report can be accessed via the Ofsted Website and on our own Ofsted Reports Page.
