Returning to School: September 2020
Over the summer break, staff at The Boulevard Academy have been working hard putting safety measures in place to help create a smooth and safe transition back to school. Below you will find videos for each year group explaining their start times, which gates they are permitted to use, which toilets, classrooms and staircases, as well as where their lunchtimes will be.
Letters with all the back to school information have been posted out to students – digital copies can also be found below. Please also see an overview table of dates and times, as well as Frequently Asked Questions.
What do I need to know?
School will look and operate differently to the way it did back in March.
- There will be limited student movement around the school to minimise contact with others outside of your year group bubble.
- Each year group will have their own set of toilets, stairs and corridors, as well as entrance gates and times. Take some time to familiarise yourself with your year group’s areas.
- Teachers will move classrooms rather than students during lesson changeovers.
- Face masks are required when moving round the corridors or when going into lunch (they can be removed during lunch when students are eating.)
- School will provide you with your own personal equipment in a wallet. It is your responsibility to look after this equipment. You must not share it. This equipment will remain in school as we want to limit home to school transmission.
- There is a staggered return for year groups – the whole school will not return on the same day. Take time to check the timetable to see when your year group will return.
Although it may look and feel different, The Boulevard Academy staff are still here to provide you with all the support and help you need. If you are having any concerns, worries or doubts please do not hesitate to reach out. Visit our Wellbeing Page where you can find helpful advice as well as contact details for our pastoral team if you would like someone to talk to. For any urgent enquiries please contact the main office on 01482 217898.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring a packed lunch?
Yes packed lunches will be allowed as normal. They will be stored at the back of classrooms outside of lunchtimes and students will be responsible for disposing of their own litter.
Do I need a blazer, jumper with a logo and tie?
No, we have an Interim Uniform Policy that limits the need for items that do not get washed as frequently, as well as making the uniform more affordable this term. You will only need black school trousers, a white shirt, and black school shoes. A black or grey V neck jumper (available from many supermarkets) are optional. Cardigans and skirts are not permitted.
Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes you can but it must be left at school in your wallet and not shared with other students. If you will require this equipment at home as well, please do not bring it. You will be provided with all the equipment that you need by school and any thing additional brought in by students is their personal responsibility.
Can I come on site earlier than my year group time if I am escorting a younger sibling on site?
At present, this will not be allowed. To ensure effective social distancing and to protect others outside of your year group bubble you must not come on site until your allocated time. You may walk your sibling to the gate and wait off site until your allocated arrival time. Similarly, if you finish earlier than a sibling, you must vacate the school site at your allocated time and will not be permitted to wait on the school grounds, you will need to wait off site. If this causes any issues or concerns please contact your Head of Year to discuss further.
What do I need to know if I travel to school by public transport?
Government advice is that face coverings are required for people aged 11 and older on public transport. For more information about travel by public transport please visit the Hull City Council website.
Will we be doing PE?
Yes, you will need a PE Kit as detailed on our normal Uniform Policy. PE will be outside unless there is adverse weather. Further details on PE will be given once students return.
