Assessment & Monitoring
In accordance with the values and beliefs of The Boulevard Academy, there is a focus on assessment and monitoring of student progress.
However, it is also important that the use of regular formal student assessments is managed correctly so that students do not become too worried about the assessments. Students should understand that this is a means for targeting appropriate additional support.
On admission to the Academy, all students undergo a series of standardised age score tests in reading, writing and maths. Together with students’ outcomes at the end of Key Stage 2 and close liaison with their primary schools, this helps to inform the basis of each student’s Individualised Learning Plan. Students are re-tested at least termly during Key Stage 3.
The aim of The Boulevard Academy is to ensure that every child, no matter what their starting point, can be supported to make the requisite progress to achieve well academically. The Academy will therefore ensure that systems, policies and methodologies are developed that will support every student.
How will my child be graded?
Students are graded on the 9-1 system. You can read more about the 9-1 system and how it compares with the old A-C grades here.
