Welcome to Google Classroom!
We have all been delighted to see students return to school this month and begin settling in to new routines and new ways of working. As part of our planning to ensure students are supported with their learning during any eventuality, we would like to share with you our blended learning curriculum.
We will be delivering our blended curriculum through Google Classroom, this will allow students to access their learning online or via any tablet/mobile device by downloading the Google Classroom App, this will mean that in the event of any school closure or a student without any symptoms being required to self-isolate they will still be able to access their current curriculum.
Students self-isolating will be able to access all their lessons via Google Classroom, allowing students to keep up with the in-school curriculum. Any student self-isolating while a member of their household has symptoms or is waiting for a test result will be contacted by a member of the pastoral team who will be able to ensure they can access work in line with their usual timetable.
In the event of a prolonged school closure such as a year group sent home or a whole school closure, we can assure you that all lessons will carry on remotely via the Google Meet feature of Google Classroom, with student’s following their usual timetables.
Students can access their Google Classroom blended learning platform at the following address; https://classroom.google.com/
Students have been allocated their own username and password in school but should they be unable to log in please email email@example.com for support.
If we go into lockdown, will lessons be on Zoom like before?
We are moving away from using Zoom and you will be able to access your live lessons using the Google Meet feature. Unlike Zoom, from Google Classroom students will be able to access their full time table of lessons, including assignments and homework links that will take you to Show My Homework.
How do I log on to Google Classroom?
Visit https://classroom.google.com/ and use your Academy email address (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org) and use the password given to you by school. If you have any issues logging on, email email@example.com or call the office and ask to speak to Miss Taylor or Mr Williams.
Where can I find out more information about how to use Google Classroom?
Take a look at this handy guide which should help you get to grips with our new online learning platform or take a look at the guide video from Leigh Academies Trust below! Google Classroom Cheat Sheet for Students by Shake Up Learning
Where will homework be set?
On Google Classroom you will be able to see links to Homework that has been set for each subject. The links will take you through to Show My Homework which will continue to be the platform we use for completing and submitting homework.
